He's run a car crash of an organisation that's got way out of hand with so many gaffes from the Trump splicing lies to the Deathto the IDF fiasco in the summer. Another CEO Doris also gets the boot.

👏

Nothing more these days than just a Leftist propaganda machine.

Defund the BBC.

Yes Nurse.

And is it really essential to take a team of almost 1000 'employees' to Glastonbury?

They sent their climate editor to Portugal last year during a heatwave. They flew him out there (net zero eh) so he could appear on the news to tell us it was hot!

When Mark Saggers joined them he asked how he went about claiming expenses for his oyster card. He was told to bin it and start taking cabs everywhere.

The list of examples of waste is endless, all paid for by the taxpayer.

A other reason I'd like to see the wretched BBC go under is the rampant nepotism. Why should dozens of beige Dimblebys and the likes of Zoe Ball be provided with a cushy gravy train just because their parents worked there?

If the BBC truely believes they offer an outstanding service they should back that up by opening it up to subscription. If its that good, people will gobble it up. Comes to just shy of £15 per month, many people are paying almost a score for netflix so there's the encouragement for them. This wont happen of course as taking the license away slows that gravy train right down.
The TV licence  was initially introduced as a stealth census. The argument was that every man and his dog would want a TV set for the new service, so this was a great way of putting names to addresses. The "fee" was simply a disguise for the real purpose, as the government would have funded the nascent BBC anyway.

At the time of introduction, it would be almost 100% breadwinner/head of the household (i.e. a MAN) who would apply for the licence ar the Post Office.

I did a month on the TV detector vans as part of my apprenticeship. TV detector man during the week, installer of (illegal) on-shore pirate radio transmitters all over London at the weekend.

I can't get my head around why this is so difficult.

We're constantly told how AMAZING it is that the world has changed so dramatically, and that the old GAMMONS just need to shut up pining for the good old days and get with the times.

These same people (people like Sven) are telling us that the BBC shouldn't get with the times, and has to remain a PUBLIC service rather than a SUBSCRIPTION service like every other fucking service that exists across the world. I think that's the gist of it.

It's very simple, the BBC should stand on it's own feet, and let everyone decide if they choose to watch it or not. And all the people who love it so much, can continue to pay for it.

Get well soon my old China

In other BBC news, just seen on my LinkedIn feed a brave Beeb war correspondent reporting 'frontline' in Ukraine
Fella laying prone in rubble, deadly environment clearly

Then in the background an old lady calmly enters the frame, ambling along walking her dog!
Then other villagers moving normally

No suggestion of over dramatizing the position from me of course ;)
Can't say the same from other posters mind - the BBC really have lost all credibility it appears

Absolutely correct

'mistake'
'misjudgment
'error'

And any other phrase that implies individual error is fundamentally wrong and nothing of the sorts

It is and has been for years, institutionally absorbed in its own agenda, prosecuted by a legion of self righteous, holier than though, metrocentric shitcunts
A travesty given its historic value
Drag it out and shoot it

It's nothing like a mistake. It's blatant intentional manipulation of words he said almost an hour apart spliced together. And not once, but twice on different programmes which shows a similar pattern of behaviour that should send shivers down audiences spines that was even called out at the time by a guest on the segment but ignored.

If they can do this to the President of the United States of America (as well as doctor a current British MP statement during PMQs 2 days ago), then they could do it to anyone.

Sven.

Genuine question here. Would you be so staunch in your defence of the BBC had the 'victim' anyone other than Trump?

Or had GB news done something similar to Starmer, would you be as equally forgiving?

Not sure that's going to cut it with the general public (which I'm guessing why you find this difficult to understand).

It's hardly an admission you purposely tried to mislead the public when you say things like it was an "error of judgement".  They need to come clean themselves about how bias they are.

The more I see people like Chris PACKHAM defending them, the more I want Trump to go after them.  And just remember, that money that goes to Trump, comes out of your pocket, Sven.
